How to Use the Countdown Timer

Enter hours, minutes, and seconds for your countdown, or click a quick preset button to set a common duration. Give your timer a name to keep track of what it is for. Click "Start Timer" to begin the countdown. When the timer reaches zero, you will hear an audio alarm.

You can run multiple timers simultaneously. Each timer operates independently with its own pause, resume, and reset controls. This is perfect for cooking multiple dishes, managing overlapping tasks, or timing different activities during a workout.

The countdown displays a large, easy-to-read time remaining along with a progress bar showing how much time has elapsed. The page title updates to show the active timer, so you can see the countdown even when the tab is in the background.

Common Uses for Countdown Timers

Countdown timers are useful for cooking and baking (set exact times for different steps), exercise intervals (time your rest periods between sets), presentations (keep your talk on schedule), meetings (set a hard stop), study sessions (time-box your learning), and games (set turn timers for board games). With multiple timers, you can manage all of these at once.
